CAPS Jeremiah Lecture Series

Admiral David E. Jeremiah

David Elmer Jeremiah (February 25, 1934 – October 7, 2013) was a United States Navy admiral who served as the second vice chairman and also the acting chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. After his retirement from the Navy in February 1994, he worked in the field of investment banking. He served as partner and President, CEO and later Chairman of Technology Strategies & Alliances Corporation, a strategic advisory and investment banking firm engaged primarily in the aerospace, defense, telecommunications, and electronics industries.

The Jeremiah Lecture Series is made possible through a generous gift from Admiral David and Connie Jeremiah, dedicated to supporting lectures focused on Asia and the Pacific. We invite proposals for guest speakers to visit the University of Oregon and deliver a public lecture on campus.

Funding is available to cover most costs associated with the event, including honorarium, travel, publicity, and reception. All proposed lectures must address topics related to Asia and/or the Pacific and be accessible and engaging to a general public audience.

Funding Options:

Faculty may apply for one of two types of funding support:

  • Full Event Funding:
Awards typically range from $1,000 to $1,500, with the expectation that applicants will seek additional co-sponsorship. Events receiving full funding will benefit from full planning and management services provided by CAPS.
  • Co-Sponsorship:
Awards typically range from $200 to $500. While event planning and logistical support are not included, poster design assistance can be provided upon request.
