Who We Are
Association of Pacific Rim Universities-Sustainable Cities and Landscape Program (APRU-SCL) housed in the Global Studies Institute a unit in the University of Oregon’s Division of Global Engagement offers set workshops and customized visiting scholar programs to meet you and your organization’s research or professional development goals. Through our connections to the APRU network, we are able to provide the participants with interdisciplinary expertise, access to diverse universities and cities, and broad international exposure in their learning and exchange experience.
The SCL Academy for Visiting Scholars and Professionals is led by University of Oregon faculty. APRU-SCL is well connected to a global community through the APRU and fields related to topics surrounding sustainability such as landscape architecture, architecture, planning, environmental science, biology, and law.
Group Professional Program
Hosted on the beautiful campus of the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon, APRU-SCL Academy for Professionals is tailored for each visiting group.
A typical group includes 10-12 professionals in fields related to the built environment, such as architecture, landscape architecture, and planning with fully customizable programs.
Group Program Goals
US urban planning through immersive exploration of the renowned Oregon land use planning system and best practices in Portland and Seattle – top green cities, and local businesses.
With scholars and experts through site visits, workshops, lectures, interviews, class visits, and weekend cultural excursions in beautiful Oregon.
The support of faculty mentors who offer lectures, organize activities, and assistance with living adjustments.

Individual Research Program
Build your research collaborations with Sustainable Cities and Landscape faculty experts at the University of Oregon.
Scholars and researchers (including sabbatical leave) seeking research collaboration with University of Oregon faculty and professionals in the built environment-related fields may visit and receive mentorship from a University of Oregon faculty member.
