The University of Oregon is proud to be a member of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities. As a network of leading universities linking the Americas, Asia, and Australasia, APRU (the Association of Pacific Rim Universities) brings together thought leaders, researchers, and policy-makers to exchange ideas and collaborate on practical solutions to the challenges of the 21st century. Through participation in the network the University of Oregon:
- Serves as the host university of the Sustainable Cities and Landscape Program which aims to engage with cross-disciplinary experts, government officials and non-governmental organizations to consider cities in the context of their many landscape interdependencies, including services, networks and systems within and beyond the urban periphery.
- Organizes and co-hosts with APRU Global Health program housed at USC the annual Student Climate Change Simulation a role-playing exercise in which students will form multi-country, multi-disciplinary teams to play the role of delegates to the UN Climate Change Negotiations.
- Hosted an Undergraduate Leadership Program an experiential education program on “Fresh Approaches to a Gordian Knot: Student Leaders Untangle Pacific Rim Environment, Health and Inequality Challenges”
- Supports faculty participation in Asia Pacific Women in Leadership that matches mentors and mentees from APRU member universities to provide international and intercultural opportunities for the empowerment, professional growth, and development of aspiring women leaders.
- Provides opportunities for faculty and administrators to engage in the world’s most complex issues with leaders from around the Pacific Rim.
